New Lens Technology

During cataract surgery, the eye’s natural lens is removed and replaced with a permanent lens implant called an intraocular lens (IOL). Traditional monofocal IOLs are designed to correct vision near or far. A new generation of IOLs, Multifocal and Accommodative, allow both distance and near objects to be seen clearly. Cataract

Research
In addition to teaching at both USC and UCLA, as well as publishing and speaking, Dr. Macy participates as Principal Investigator in a variety of research studies that involve both new and existing medications.

Legal
Dr. Macy is recognized as a national expert in medical legal matters. He has been certified by the State of California as a Qualified Medical Evaluator (QME). He is often consulted in matters of Personal Injury, Corporate Liability, and Medical Malpractice. Dr. Macy‘s advice is frequently sought by venture capital entities and investment houses regarding emerging products and technologies.

Meet Dr. Macy

Dr. Macy Jonathan Isaac Macy grew up in New Jersey. He earned his BA (Phi Beta Kappa) and MD at Boston University. After training in Ophthalmology at the Doheny Eye Institute of the University of Southern California, he established the Macy Eye Center adjacent to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. In addition to a busy office and surgery practice, Dr. Macy is an Associate Clinical Professor at both the USC and UCLA Schools of Medicine. He is the President of the Beverly Hills District of the Los Angeles County Medical Association. As the author of more than 100 Abstracts, Book Chapters and Papers, Dr. Macy has delivered more than 300 lectures around the world. He is a nationally recognized expert in cataract surgery, LASIK and medical legal matters.
